International Foundation Programme Students achieve excellent results again

15th July 24

Our first set of 2024 results are here, and once again our International Foundation Programme students have excelled! The overall average mark achieved by our students this year was an impressive 67%. This is  even better than last year’s excellent performance.

Our International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a great alternative to A-Level study that allows international students to progress on to study at a wide range of top UK Universities.  IFP students are assessed via a series of three examinations taken over the year of study, and students have the option to retake up to two exam units if required.  Many IFP students prefer this method of assessment rather than taking all their exams at the end of a two-year programme, as is the case with A-Levels.

There are a wide range of pathways to choose from at Abbey College Manchester and this year’s overall pathway scores are:

Medicine 69%

Business and Economics 65%

Engineering 67%

Science 69%

Creative Arts 64%

We are delighted that these excellent results are being reflected in the confirmed university offers being made to the students.

46% of students received at least one offer from a Russell Group University showing the quality of these courses and the high esteem they are held in by the UK’s top universities.

Some of the universities students have received offers for are:

University of Manchester

Durham University

Kings College London, University of London

University of Birmingham

University of York

University of Leeds

University of Newcastle

University of Southampton

Aref from Iran  who is holding an offer to study medicine at University of Central Lancaster said “I have enjoyed studying at Abbey College Manchester. We have small classes, the number of students which attend in to classes is less than in other colleges, so that means teachers have more time to solve students’ problems. We have lots of practical experiments which have prepared me for Medicine at university. I also received lots of support from my teachers. They are so kind, teaching new skills to students who need support with their languages. I have learned to communicate with new people and to become an expert in teamwork.”

On speaking of the achievements of the IFP class of 2024, Principal Chris Randell commented “Many congratulations to the International Foundation Programme students on a set of amazing results., They have worked hard this year and these results are a great testament to this hard work and dedication of the staff in supporting their studies. Well done to everyone and we wish them the very best of luck in their future studies.”
